"Thank you for making my mother's stay at Oakpark so pleasant. She really did enjoy herself and really enjoyed being catered to while she rested and relaxed and healed. I was in twice to have lunch with her and once to bring her some things she forgot and had the chance to "check out her pad!". She introduced me around to a lot of ladies she had met and played bridge with as well. My brother and I are keeping our fingers crossed that our mother will make the decision to make the move into a home (preferably Oakpark). I think she is convinced that Oakpark is the place where she would like to be." Sincerely,
"Where do we start to say thank you for all the wonderful care you gave our Dad in his final years. To those that were closest to him every day, the Personal Support Workers and the Nursing staff and Dr. Farey, we send you our heartfelt gratitude. During the last few months, we appreciated Mila and her team who ensured Dad was able to safely eat his meals each day. Also we must not forget the talented chefs and all the pleasant ladies who delivered each delicious meal with a genuine smile – always remembering the “little things” each resident liked or disliked and never rushing anyone to hurry up so they felt like they were still in their own homes.
Each time we visited Dad at Oakpark, we always felt welcomed by the friendly staff and residents. How we will miss coming to Ottawa to see Dad and equally, how we will miss visiting with all of you."
"I just wanted to send a short note to express my thanks to both the hardworking staff and the spirited residents (!)- of OakPark. It was a pleasure to meet so many of them during my short stay, while convalescing from my recent hip surgery.
In particular I would like to thank my meal mates for excellent conversation and their interesting stories-Roy, Joe, John and breakfast, Marion and Bruce, Noreen at lunch- and Mac for dinner. And to my occasional walking/crutching companions Helen and Yvonne.
It is a lovely community and I would highly recommend anyone in my situation making the effort to try and stay with you. "
All the best,
"This past weekend, you hit the jackpot with Saturday night's menu. We have sometimes been disappointed with the Yorkshire puddings, but this weekend it was superb. My grandson, who is a chef, used to say he would not put Yorkshire pudding on the menu until he could make it taste as good as I used to make it, so I guess I have high expectations. He would have applauded your efforts this weekend with your latest version.
Thank you again, and good luck with the busy holiday season. I'm sure everyone will be appreciative of your efforts.”
"If it weren't for Cheryl, your Director of Care, Esther would not have been cared for properly, when the hospital wanted to discharge her way too early. We had to scramble to find a new place, but appreciate her refusal to take Esther back, needing 24hr extra hired-help, that would have been way too expensive for her. Someone had to be the bad guy regarding the hospital early discharge and she helped us by doing so! Dr Farey is also an asset to your wonderful staff, we enjoyed dealing with her. She helped us greatly to understand the Alzheimer's progression and how to deal with it!"
"Unfortunately I missed seeing you and thanking you for the care Mom receives at Oakpark. You and your staff do wonderful and important work."
"We wish to thank you and your staff for helping to make our July 14th birthday party so successful as well as for accomodating our wavering guest list and our few vegetarian plates.
Indeed, one of the guests who joins us for dinner from time to time declared it to be the best meal he had ever been served at Oakpark. The chicken was so tender and juicy and the variety of the vegetables pleased everyone.
I could not read the name of the server but I hope you will convey our appreciation to her.
Once again Oakpark has lived up to its reputation as a good place to hold a party and this we appreciate."

"We would like to thank you and your competent staff for facilitating my Mom’s internal move. We are grateful to Cheryl Gothard for alerting us about the possible vacancy of suite 113 on June 30th and Tom Kloppenburg, who confirmed this location and drew up a contract on July 2nd. Although Denise Custodio was extremely busy, he made the move a reality from suite 306 on July 3rd. Since time was paramount, he enlisted Danilo Dalisay’s assistance. Both men took such pride in staging her suite – a real showcase!
We continue to be very impressed with how attentive and accommodating the staff has been to my Mom’s needs. We are very pleased that in 2009, we had chosen Oakpark Retirement Community as her home."
"The overall impression mother's guests expressed during and after the party was how fabulous Oakpark seems to be. The appearance was lovely with holiday decorations, the library was perfect for our event, there was a choir and the food service was very tasty and so attractively presented.
Money cannot begin to capture how much all of you mean to us. I cannot say how good it is to know my Mom is in fine hands. Each of you is very good at what you do, especially Cheryl, Mercedes and the second floor staff.”
Thank you for making my Mom feel valued and a part of the Oakpark Community. ”
“Thanks again to you and your great nursing staff. I know that my father-in-law could be quite stubborn at times, and I sincerely appreciate the effort your staff made to make him feel secure and comfortable.”
“Even though I was sick, I very much appreciated everything about your residence. It was beautiful and clean, with lovely rooms, and what can I say about the food other than ‘C’est si bon!’ (It was delicious!) I wish to thank everyone I encountered, for their kindness and attention and most of all for their smiling faces, which reminded me that all people smile in the same language.”
“I just wanted to take a few moments to acknowledge the phenomenal job that your staff is doing in the provision of care for a couple of your residents in particular. The superlative level of care provided by your facility staff, both prior to and during the shift nursing staff’s visits, was evident in the skin conditions of these two residents. The devotion and fondness that your staff shows for these two gentlemen was also apparent during each of our frequent shifts to turn and reposition them and provide personal care.”
